You Can Still Buy Combat Knives On Amazon (but enough about my evening)

In a world focused mainly on gun crime- especially in the light of Trump’s election and his party’s views on gun laws- knives and the regulations surrounding them can tend to be overlooked by people. But you should never underestimate what damage a blade can do to individuals and to a community…

However, the knife laws in the UK are actually very specific. According to ukpreppersguide.co.uk, the basic rules are that:

It is illegal to: sell a knife of any kind (including cutlery and kitchen knives) to anyone under 18. carry a knife in public without good reason – unless it’s a knife with a folding blade 3 inches long (7.62 cm) or less, eg a Swiss Army knife.

So if this is the case- then why are Amazon still selling a cornucopia of knives to it’s customers in the UK? If you don’t believe me then just go on Amazon and search u- Actually, probably don’t as you’ll get tailored recommendations which might really worry your friends. That’s experience talking. To save you from some explaining to family- I’ll post some screenshots below of what to expect.

The ‘straight outa prison starter pack’. All available on Amazon.co.uk .

I understand that many of these items may be within the guidelines for ownership, but even this information isn’t strictly specified in the title. As you will see, many of these knives aren’t marketed for survival or bush-craft purposes, as many are in the real world. Can I also mention that I know many friends (and I’m under 18) who shop on Amazon- even if I don’t shop there on ethical grounds…

What image does a knife with a purple or green grip conjure to a consumer?

In the 2014/15 year; 27,487 cases of knife offenses were recorded in the UK alone (ONS)– and Amazon.co.uk could have provided the opportunity for any one of these offenses.

I would strongly advise no one to carry a knife in public, even if within the legal guidelines…
